Are you pro-Liberal or Conservative? (or any other parties)
With the two elections coming up, i thought it would be an interesting topic to see what people think of when we're deciding who to let run our country. Personally i think that the voting age should be lower because it is the youth's future's they're deciding and if they mess up the world we as the adults of tomorrow have to live through it.
I also believe that because no one trusts the Liberals anymore and Steven Harper is a) too buddy buddy with the Americans and b) the whole plagiarism thing (i know it wasn't his fault but that did cause a lot of problems), the NDP or the Green Party actually have a chance to win and take over. But then again, people often just say that they aren't going to win anyway so they don't bother voting for them. If we did actually keep to our word, i can almost guarantee that one of the other parties would at least make it to be a minority.
I may not know that much about how politics work, but i do know that Politicians often lie and say they know what the people want, but no one is ever pleased. Candidates will often make phone calls to your house telling you what their going to do. For once I'd like for them to really keep their word and actually listen...it's ironic really.
Now it's you're turn, have any ideas?

To be completely honest I'm pro-neither right now. Both the conseratives and liberals are both looking bad and disorganized, one being inflamed with power, the other kind of confused and round-about in his speechs. Also, as you said, its true that the Green and NDP will never win Parliament, at least not in this current age, but its a start to have one elected member in Parliament, just to make sure the voice is heard and not drowned out by the conservatives. Personally, I'm going to be voting either Green or NDP, sinply because I like the way Jack Layton talks, and I like the ideas of Elizabeth May. I just need to decide who now.

Well now that the votes are over and Harper won again in minority government. I think that it would be better if he had majority a lot of people don't believe me but look at the US. They are now going into a depression and yet we are still in resection. That shows we have done something right instead of following the US like normal. Now let us all wait for about a month if he screws up grab your pitchforks and torches and will get em.

In some senses I agree Lord Truth, but on the other hand, being an environmentalist, I believe that Harper as a Majority would leave this country in ruins. I'd like to direct you to the Tar Sands post I did, and I'd like to ask you if you know what Harper plans on doing about that. Do you know? Nothing. There was talk of even making it bigger. As much as I care about the economy and how we live our lives, I think that a lot of people could use a serious "head-outta-the-sand" pulling and smack down to whats really going on. Therefore, I agree in the fact that none of the other parties were ready to be in power, especially not May or Layton, and I didn't personnally like Dion, but a majority would never be good for the Conservatives in my opinion.

I'd like to add that it dosen't matter whoever runs is going to find a new way to mess up. Welcome to power. Seriously I think that were all better off without a leader, less damage done then. But what do i know? I'm just a teenager who thinks things are wrong in the world,as we all are.

Now we really need like two parties in power now. With how the world has been turning I personally think it would keep the world from going to hell. If this happened there would more competition so it requires the politicians to act upon there promises.

Yes this is true competitin would break out and yes people would have to go by thier promises but competition puts people under pressure, under pressure only makes people more liable to screw up, and we've been doing a fine job of doing that for so many years.

I'm just gonna say this.....inspired by my friend in gym class, this is orginally his opinion but I can't disagree with it either. Direct quote: " All politics are stupid, its made up of people who promise things and when they get power to follow through with those plans they don't,why? because most of the time thier promises are a very good stage act to get your vote and if they win they spit on you by forgetting they ever made a promise. Oh not all of the promises go by without being followed up but how many promises were made then left in the dirt? Its not entirely thier fault either, they got power, and anyone with power loses at least 1% of their mind" This was a random conversation between me and two otehr guys from gym class, and when politics came up that was the best answer I could have gotten in my opinion. Now I myself don't know much about politics but the one I got that quote from was a pretty good actor,so when he says that they just throw on good stage acts I think I believe that. I dunno i'm treading on thin ice saying this I know but honestly politics are a stupid way for humanity to pretend that they keep things organized.
