I have informed all of you that this post was going up, and if you have your ideas yet, then please share them with us if you wish.
The question was: What are the two things you value most in life?
And why are they the things you value most?
My personal answer came to me while walking away from home. I value freedom and equality the most in life. Freedom runs my life entirely, and all things that really try and keep me from that freedom I try to avoid or push away. In some ways this is good, and in some ways its very bad. I am free to think that I want, I am free to dress the way I want, I am free to say what I want (though I do consider what others feel, because it is also their freedom to feel good about themselves, and I respect that just as much as my own freedom), and I am free to have these freedoms. Everyone has the right to be free, to not have someone telling them what to do all the time, to run their own life and see where Fate takes them.
Equality I also value above most other things. Not only equality among people, race, sex, age, and all of those, but also equality among species, among organisms, along life itself. That bear in the cage has just as much right to be free as me (this really does tie into my other one). All the organisms have a certain thing that lets them live out their lives like nature intended, and who's to say that I get more rights in life then that dog in the corner. We both have the right to breath, to drink, to hunt, and to find purpose in life, whatever that may be. It's not equality to say that I have any more right to live then that dog. Equality can even be found (and this is an interesting topic I thought of at the kitchen table) in time. I think of the things I need in life, but I also think of the things that my children will need in the future. I need food and water and earth and air, but what about them? If I use it all, what will be left for them? I will be regarding myself higher then the very people that will keep my family alive in the future. I am no different then them. I am human, they will be human. Human = human. Equal.
This is why I value these two things most. What are yours?
